Wesel. From 12-17 March the combined regional and state competition of ages III-VII (12-21 years) Jugend musiziert digital was held in NRW. As in every year – despite the strong changes in the general conditions caused by the corona – there were again students from the Wesel Music and Art School who took on the special challenge of producing an uncut video instead of performing live and thus taking part in the competition.
So they defied Corona and accepted all sorts of unfamiliar situations and adverse circumstances in order to still live up to their passion and their own demands and to present a great “product”.
They were supported, inspired and accompanied by the subject teachers, Veronika Hagen and Kate Hildebrandt (violin), Georg Mersmann (piano), Günter Schillings (guitar) and Nicole Schillings (saxophone), who of course primarily provided technical and musical assistance, but also equally corona-compliant and imaginative with the respective specifications sometimes from the outside through the windows to the inside, because with the presence of a playing partner or piano accompanist the contact restriction of 2 people was reached or without further ado, radiant heaters were brought in because a deserted building with sub-zero temperatures outside can get pretty cold and the instruments threatened to lose their “mood”.
After various attempts and video shoots, it was on March 8th. Finally, the last possible date by which the USB stick had to be available for the state competition, and then it was a matter of… wait… for the results.
It was worth it for the 6 participants, because all of them were awarded prizes in their age groups:
In the duo evaluation piano and a string instrument:
Lilly Mühlisch (16, piano) and Tim Hildebrandt (15, violin) with a 3rd prize (16 points)
Tim Böing (17, piano) and Lilly Mühlisch (violin) with a 2nd prize (20 points)
In the guitar solo rating:
Femke Krebbing (16, guitar) with a 3rd prize (14 points)
Felix Bröcker (21, guitar) with a 3rd prize (14 points)
After the results were announced, the face of Fatima Bödecker (16), who managed the feat of qualifying on the saxophone with a first prize and a score of 23 for the national competition, gave a very special glow. She is one of the few chosen ones who will be able to compete with the best in her field and instrument from Germany at Pentecost.
For the younger pupils of ages I and II, the regional and state competition will take place at a later date. So there are still some students from the MKS waiting for their assignment …
