On August 31st, the OEW, together with the South Tyrolean Network Group, invites all rap enthusiasts to the Mignone Park in Bolzano for the Weeks Against Racism.

Under the title “Voice Up! Stop Racism!” the up-and-coming Italian rapper ADRIANA (Instagram: @theycallmeadriana) from Verona takes to the summer stage.

The opening act will be the Bolzano musicians from FLEXX (Instagram: @firas_flexx). The concert starts at 7 p.m. and admission is free. The day before, August 30, young and old can get in the mood for the concert from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at a free RAP and R&B workshop with ADRIANA at the youth club Bunker in Bolzano.

The occasion for the concert and workshop is the annual Action weeks “Stop Racism!”. These traditionally take place around March 21st – the World Day Against Racial Discrimination – but summer is a good time for an open-air event. The municipality of Bolzano is equipping Mignone Park with a stage especially for this purpose. Like the project partners – VKE, Bunker and the Office for Youth Work – OEW employee and member of the steering group Adrian Luncke is also looking forward to the event:

“Music is a great way to address a sensitive issue like racism. Racism affects everyone. While it disadvantages black people and people of color, it benefits the white majority. In recent years we have held workshops on this topic in South Tyrol. This year we are trying a creative format that is at least as intense. Music speaks to our emotional side and it can empower us.”

ADRIANA is an artist from Verona, singer-songwriter, choreographer and dancer born in 1995. Her father was born in Guinea-Bissau, her mother in Italy. From an early age she lived a multi-ethnic reality in which diversity is not to be feared but discovered.

Whether you want to deal with racism or experience an up-and-coming Italian musician, everyone is welcome to this summer event. To participate in the workshop, you must register at [email protected] necessary.
