Mumbai: Former champions Mumbai are moving towards victory in the final against Vidarbha. After being bowled out for 224 runs in the first innings, Mumbai bowled out Vidarbha for 105 runs and got hold of the match by scoring 418 runs in the second innings on the third day yesterday. Chasing a huge target of 538 runs, Vidarbha took 10 runs without losing a wicket when they stopped play yesterday. Vidarbha need 528 more runs with 10 wickets remaining in two days.

Musheer Khan (136), who scored a century for Mumbai, who resumed the second innings yesterday with a score of 141/2, captain Ajinkya Rahane (73), Indian star Shreyas Iyer (95) and Shams Mulani (50), reached 418. Musheer and Rahane added 130 runs for the third wicket. The return of Rahane, who was out of form for a long time, brought relief to Mumbai. Musheer added 168 runs with Iyer for the fourth wicket.

19-year-old Musheer Khan on breaking Sachin Tendulkar’s record as the youngest player to score a century for Mumbai in a Ranji Trophy final. Musheer broke the record of 140 in the final against Punjab in the 1994-95 season at the age of 21 in the presence of Sachin and Rohit Sharma at the Wankhede Stadium yesterday. Musheer faced 326 balls and scored 136 runs including 10 boundaries.

Musheer is the younger brother of Sarfraz Khan, who debuted in the Indian team in the Test series against England. He also scored a century in the Under-19 World Cup in South Africa.
