Frankfurt/Main (dpa) – After years of waiting, Germany’s first museum for electronic music (Momem) opens its doors in Frankfurt today. For invited guests there will be a reception in the Paulskirche in the early evening (6:00 p.m.) before the Momem will be officially opened afterwards. To start with, an exhibition about DJ legend Sven Väth (57) will be shown. The Technomuseum is located on the mezzanine level at the Hauptwache.
On the central square in the city center, the party is supposed to start in the afternoon, with music and various DJs. The highlight is then planned for the evening, when Väth is supposed to be at the turntables in person. Väth, who was born in Offenbach, recently celebrated his 40th DJ anniversary. The museum will then be open to the public from the following days.
The Momem was originally supposed to start in 2017. But there were repeated delays, among other things due to disputes about financing and the corona pandemic.
