DUBAI, 13th April, 2020 (WAM) — Yesterday evening, the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Center organized a “Meeting from Space” event with Emirati astronaut Sultan Al Neyadi, during a direct call from the International Space Station, in the presence of more than 130 representatives of local and international media, in the The Museum of the Future, to talk about the most prominent tasks and experiments it carries out within the longest space mission in the history of the Arabs.

His Excellency Salem Humaid Al Marri, Director General of the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Center, reviewed the most important developments regarding the tasks and projects in which the center participates, pointing to the distinguished role played by the media sector in promoting the space sector within the United Arab Emirates, and its continuous support over the years for the field of exploration. Space, scientific research.

Al-Marri said: The Arab space sector is experiencing a golden age during the current period, as the entire region is looking forward to two important achievements during the coming weeks. They are the landing of the explorer Rashid on the surface of the moon, which is the first Arab mission to the moon, and the second achievement is the first spacewalk in the history of the Arabs, which is scheduled to be carried out by astronaut Sultan Al Neyadi accompanied by astronaut Stephen Bowen, considering that these missions are a testament to the commitment Our nation of innovation, research, and development.

He stressed: We are proud of the progress we have made in the field of space exploration, and we will continue to achieve more achievements in this field in cooperation with our partners.

The “Meet from Space” event is scheduled to be organized in a number of other emirates, with the next event in the series taking place next May.

It is noteworthy that the UAE Astronaut Programme, which is managed by the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Center, is one of the projects funded by the Information and Communications Technology Fund of the Communications and Digital Government Authority, which aims to support research and development in the information and communication technology sector.
