Museum of Modern Art exhibits “Diaspora and Exile”

Inside the Museum of Modern Art that is located inside the Mexiquense Cultural Center, there is the exhibition of Diaspora and Exile, which has a theme of the arrival to Mexico of artists and people during the 20th century, this while their countries were in conflict. .

The diaspora means the change from one place to another by a community, addressing issues of migration and exile. It is for this reason that the exhibition bears this name, because in the middle of the 20th century there were several wars in the world, for example the Spanish Civil War and the Second World War.

These circumstances led people to “flee” their country, among those people were artists who arrived in various countries in Latin America, including Mexico.

The exhibition is made up of 51 works, of which the majority are from the largest collection of this property and a few are from private works.

Our country acquired great wealth because we can see everything that those artists did reflected through each of the works in this exhibition. We can also find literature and music that also lived in exile in Otter country.

One of the main reasons for which this exhibition is displayed is to teach visitors the importance of these people who came to take refuge in our country and here they found great inspiration for their artistic works.

Some of the people we can find in the exhibition is Fanny Rabel, a prominent Mexican artist of Polish origin. Through his work “Rivers of Time” we can observe two people embracing under the ground, as if they were protecting themselves from the outside. The artist mainly reflected the Jews and the suffering they went through in those times.

This exhibition is unique in the country, that gives a special touch to each and every one of the works that are in the museum. Access is free and suitable for the whole family.

The hours of the Museum of Modern Art are from Tuesday to Saturday from 10:00 am-6:00pm and on Sundays from 10: 00-3: 00pm.
