Gareth Bale can certainly use the encouragement after the last few months. Since September last year, injuries to his knee and calf have prevented him from playing at his club. There was also a corona infection and persistent back problems.
His coach, Carlo Ancelotti, has so far left open when he will be back on the pitch. When he was eliminated in the quarter-finals of the Copa del Rey at Athletic Bilbao (0-1), Bale was last on the bench, but was just as little used as Eden Hazard.
