Murdered millionaire businessman’s girlfriend urges unknown killer to come forward

The girlfriend of a murdered businessman who was left to rot in his garage after being brutally beaten on New Years Eve has made a desperate appeal for his killer to surrender to authorities.

Michael Griffey, 45, was brutally clubbed to death in the garage of his family’s property in Pakenham, south-east Melbourne in 2005.

His body, covered with a tarp and a sheet, was not discovered by his wife Diane and his daughter Cassandra until four days after his death.

Fifteen years after his death, Mr. Griffey’s girlfriend, at the time of her death, Gillian Goula is desperately pleading for the killer to come forward.

“It’s up to people who know it to come forward. Do the right thing. That’s what it boils down to, ”Ms. Goula told the Herald Sun.

The case has been deemed insoluble but investigators believe those close to Mr Griffey have the answers as her laptop, wallet and two pages torn from a newspaper disappeared after her death.

Michael's body had been covered with a tarp and sheet, and was only discovered by his wife Diane and daughter Cassandra several days later.

Diane Griffey and couple’s son Kenny were arrested in 2008 in connection with Michael’s death, and her teenage daughter Cassandra confessed that she was the one who killed her father in 2007.

None of the arrests led to a conviction as all charges were dropped and the police did not buy into the story of Cassandra – who was also not charged with the death of her father.

Kenny has also publicly denied being involved in his father’s death.

Daily Mail Australia does not suggest that Diane, Kenny or Cassandra played a role in Mr Griffey’s death.

Nearly a decade later, Ms. Gould still hopes that justice will be served for her five-year-old partner.

Ms. Gould said that although the unknown killer escaped murder, they would have the burden of caring for their demons for the rest of their lives.

“What helps me is that the person involved has to live with their lies, knowing what happened,” Ms. Gould said.

Victoria Police said the murder of Michael Griffey “is still ongoing” and any new information will be reviewed.

“As with many incidents of this nature, circumstances can change over time and someone with information about Michael’s death may now be able to come forward,” a statement read.

Anyone with information about Mr. Griffey’s murder is encouraged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000
