I witnessed prosecutors playing Tetris while a human fate was being decided. I see that some of you look at me with great disbelief, but I wish it never happened to them. happened to be on our side. I am a witness to all the messengers of the Prosecutor’s Office, at that time Veselin Denkov and I lived on a family basis. People came to him to urge him to pay. “You are starting to make the Prosecutor’s Office very angry. If you don’t pay, they will find in the end, what should they arrest you for,” they said. Isn’t the NRA an independent body and why does it have to report to the SP for what audits it conducts?” Bakalova asked rhetorically.

Her husband Veselin Denkov told the story from his point of view. “I have been in the restaurant and finance business for more than 30 years, I am accused of 3 cases: extortion, usury and incitement to murder. In the summer of 2016, my friends called me and told me that I had a problem with the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office. I wondered if I had anything to do with her, I told them I had no such problem. When I came home from the trip, my friends told me that they had been told by the SP that I had to pay them BGN 100,000 so that they would not turn me from a witness into an accused. A few months after that I was already accused, I was charged. I looked for Mrs. Ina Lulcheva, I explained what I had witnessed – in the case of extortion for granting a loan in 2011, granted through a bank and recovered in this way, even with taxes paid. In this case, I was questioned 2 times – on November 11, 2011, the other in 2014. After that – nothing. Then the call and the request to pay in 2016. Between 2016 and 2020, representatives, messengers of the Prosecutor’s Office have come to pay so that I don’t have any other problems created. One of the representatives of the SP told me that if I don’t pay, this is already money that they have allocated and it will be extremely bad for me,” he pointed out.

According to Denkov, it got worse for him after he reported what was happening to Sotir Tsatsarov, the then chairman of KPCONPI. “During the pandemic, towards the end of the summer, I saw my close friend, who advised me to make a meeting with Tsatsarov as the chairman of KPCONPI. I sought him out on August 22, 2020. I told him everything that had happened to me and asked him to stop the CONPI. He told me to make a formal report about all this. We checked it in on August 25th, 2020. On August 25th we went on vacation. On August 28th, several friends of mine called me and told me that I was put on a nationwide wanted list and that I was being linked to a group that was already in custody – the OPG for loan sharking. I called Mrs. Lulcheva, she advised me to go home. On August 31st, we were in Zagreb, on September 1st, when passing through the “Kalotina” checkpoint, they detained us, searched our car, home, and office. I was taken to the custody of “Major Vekelski”. While I was in custody, they called Ms. Lulcheva and Adv. Stefan Karayotov for filing another charge. It was supposed to be raised on 9/11. “Ivayla Bakalova’s husband was accused of murder” – on September 11th they should have brought this charge against me, the “Criminal” site wrote it on September 9th. This charge was eventually brought against me on August 17th, 2021. I say this because I was not released in all my 12 or so pleas to have the measure lifted with a lighter one. Most of the measures were decided by the same judges – one is Anton Mitalov, the other is the chairman of the Appellate Specialized Court – Mr. Georgi Ushev and judge Galya Georgieva. Most of the measures were taken by them,” said Ivayla Bakalova’s husband.

“Between the 26th and the 27th of August, all the witnesses against me, open and secret, were interrogated in those two days. All this happened after I sent my signal to Mr. Tsatsarov. The people who came to me, there were several, they wanted me to pay so that I wouldn’t have these obstructions that piled up on me. At the beginning of 2020, KPCONPI sued me, which was for nearly 12 million and which was subsequently reduced to 3 million. Everything that happened against me was mainly because of the protests , which I went to, in 2020. On July 15th and 16th, I went to the protest for the first time. My relatives told me that there were rumors that I was financing the protests, about a connection between me and Vasil Bozhkov, who I did not know at that time , and on the basis of this, all institutions have been activated,” says Veselin Denkov.
According to him, the “envoys of the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office” came mainly on the order of Ivan Geshev. Dimitar Frantisek Petrov, a man named Evgeni, a native of Vratsa, as well as Adv. Montenegrin.

In 2020, when I was arrested, the police and the officers of the GDBOP seized a significant amount of belongings and valuables that were personally mine. I I am not a defendant in this case and I have made a number of requests to have it returned to me. All judges and prosecutors responded to my requests that these were physical evidence and should be analyzed. One judge gave the prosecution 24 hours to determine which jewels would be recovered. use as evidence. Then the prosecutor’s office opened a new pre-trial proceeding against an unknown perpetrator and again began to refuse to return my personal belongings. The people who introduced me to the Notary, I cannot tell their names because I will expose them to danger. “I have not heard from Alexey Petrov any names to whom I should give the amount, as well as the amount itself. I have always said that I will not pay anything because I have not done anything. In my opinion, the money should have been given to the special prosecutor’s office. For to me, Alexey Petrov was not related to the Notary. I did not know the name of Martin Bojanov at the time. I never connected Alexey Petrov with Bojanov. I can only assume that Alexey Petrov really wanted to help me,” added Denkov.
PP-DB deputy Antoaneta Tsoneva announced to the members of the commission that when asked jointly with her colleague Bozhidar Bojanov whether the Notary was a secret collaborator of the Ministry of the Interior and their services were told that this information cannot be provided because it falls under the column “Classified information”. In the end, the committee members decided to request this information from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, following all the rules of the “Classified Information” Act. The information whether Martin Bojanov was the notary assistant of the Ministry of the Interior should be submitted to the secret registry of the parliament and be considered at a closed meeting of the committee.
