At the press briefing, Juris Šulte, Acting Chief of the State Police, and Armands Ruks, Head of the Criminal Investigation Department of the State Police, will provide information about what happened.

The State Police (VP) previously confirmed to the portal “Delfi” that Rebenok had been found killed. VP’s representative Gita Gžibovska pointed out that criminal proceedings had been initiated in connection with the incident. The current investigation involves large police resources, operational and investigative activities.
Initially, the LP indicated that criminal proceedings had been instituted for murder if it was related to robbery under Article 117 of the Criminal Law. This article stipulates that the offender may be sentenced to life imprisonment or imprisonment for a term of 10 to 20 years and with probation supervision for a period of up to three years, with or without confiscation of property.
Later in the day, VP “Delfi” indicated that it was considering two versions of the murder of lawyer Pavel Rebenok. One is still involved in robbery and the other in his professional activities. However, the police do not specify with which professional activity, namely the activity of a lawyer, business or political activity.
In the interest of the investigation, the LP did not provide any further information.
Minister of the Interior Sandis Ģirģens (KPV LV) said in an interview with TV3 News on Sunday evening that the alleged killing of Rebenok doesn’t look like a custom murder. He emphasized that the investigation was still ongoing and involved the absolute best.
Gergens has also asked the State Security Service to check certain information “about threats and the like”. The Minister emphasized that more detailed information on the crime could not be provided.
Rebenoka’s colleague, lawyer Mārtiņš K Grieķis, said that he found out about the murder after 2 o’clock at night, and criminal investigators also came to him. “I believe that robbery is just a cover for him. (..) He was not killed by a firearm. He was killed by physical force. In my opinion, this has clearly been a political assassination,” he said.
She suffered in the Rebenoka murder case business partner Ingus Balandins, was confirmed by Rebenoka ‘s colleague, lawyer Mārtiņš K Grieķis. According to him, Balandin has been seriously injured.
