Australian police arrested the instructor of the Taekwondo gym at the scene of the incident as a murder suspect in connection with the death of a Korean family that occurred at a Taekwondo gym in Sydney.
According to local Australian media, police in New South Wales (NSW), Australia, announced that they arrested a 49-year-old Korean man surnamed Yoo on charges of murdering three members of a family in western Sydney on the 21st (local time).
According to the police, at around 11:50 pm on the 19th, Mr. Yoo showed up at Westmead Hospital in western Sydney with stab wounds to his chest, arms, and stomach.
Hospital staff called police and Mr Yoo said he had been attacked in the car park of a supermarket in North Parramatta.
The next day, on the 20th, at around 10:30 a.m., the police were called and dispatched to a house in Balcombe Hills near North Parramatta.
Police found a 39-year-old man named Cho who appeared to have been stabbed to death here.
At around 12:30 pm on the same day, police also found the bodies of a 41-year-old woman and a 7-year-old boy at a Taekwondo gym in North Parramatta.
The police said that the deceased were Mr. Cho and his son, and that the child attended the Taekwondo gym, so Cho’s family and Mr. Yoo knew each other.
He also explained that he is cooperating with the Korean Consulate General in Sydney to contact Cho’s other family members.
After investigating, the police arrested Mr. Yoo, who was being treated at the hospital, as a prime suspect in the murder, believing that all of these cases were related.
The police explained that they are focusing on Mr. Yoo’s lone crime and that there is sufficient evidence to charge him with murder.
Police say that between 5:30 and 6:30 p.m. on the 19th, Mr. Yoo strangled a woman and her child to death at a Taekwondo gym, and then took the dead woman’s car to Mr. Cho’s house in Bolcom Hills. We believe Mr. Cho was murdered and we are investigating the exact motive for the crime.
