The name of the suspect in the murder of a member of the ruling British Conservative Party, David Amess, is Ali Harbi Ali. He was previously unknown to the security services.

According to him, the 25-year-old man is of Somali origin. The Scotland Yard Counter-Terrorism Unit is leading the investigation into the attack on Amess.
Amess died of stab wounds. The attacker was detained on the spot. Previously, his identity and possible motives for the crime were not disclosed. The police believe that the killer had no accomplices.
The attack came during one of the 69-year-old’s regular meetings with voters in his constituency, which took place this week at the Methodist Church in Lee-on-Sea, Essex, East Anglia.
