The police have opened a murder investigation after a dead man was found this evening in Stavern in Vestfold, the South-Eastern Police District reports in a press release.
– A woman related to the dead man has been charged with murder, but the police do not have control over this person on Tuesday evening, says police attorney Ole Jacob Garder in the press release.
Notice of concern
The message came in to the police at 18.11, from family members who were worried about a relative they had not been in contact with. The police went to the address in question and found the dead man.
The family struggled after the murder
The deceased has not been identified, but the police have a guess as to who it is.
– The next of kin have been notified, with the caveat that the police are not sure of the identity, writes the police district.
The police stress that there is little they can say about the case this early in the investigation.
– Want contact
Police attorney Garder tells Dagbladet that they want to get in touch with the accused woman.
– I don’t want to say anything about how the police are working to get hold of her, but we have an opinion about who she is, and want contact with her, says the police attorney.
Knocked down unknown man
He does not want to elaborate on what kind of relationship the woman has with the presumed murdered man. They should both be in their 50s.
The police do not know exactly when the man was killed. Garder does not want to elaborate on how long it has been since the man was in contact with the family members who reported.
– Which period of time is relevant here is part of the ongoing investigation, says the police attorney.
– Good reason
Forensic technicians will enter the crime scene during the evening, and will, among other things, try to get closer to the time of the murder.
– There are findings at the crime scene which indicate with good reason that a murder has taken place, Garder emphasizes to Dagbladet.
