Borchert (Christian Kohlund) and Dominique Kuster (Ina Paule Klink) take on the defense of taxi driver Jürg Zollinger (Tim Kalkhof). Captain Furrer (Pierre Kiwitt) suspects him of the murder of a passenger, the African investigative journalist Nuka Baluba (Pierre Rousselet). All evidence incriminates the uncontrolled suspect, whose statement initially appears not to be credible. The fact that public prosecutor Dietrich (Daniel Drewes) quickly commits himself to Zollinger makes Borchert suspicious. The “unlicensed lawyer” suspects that Baluba’s research into child labor in cobalt mines in the Congo has something to do with the murder. During his research, he comes across the respected charity organization “Our Heart for Africa” run by Henrik Wollschläger (Sebastian Rudolph), whose patrons include the upper classes of the financial metropolis of Zurich and some rich clients of his old friend, the star lawyer Reto Zanger (Robert Hunger-Bühler ), belong. Shortly before his death, the murdered man also had contact with Anneli Keller (Sarah Bauerett), the Africa expert at the Foreign Office, and her boss Ulf Hellmann (Fabian Busch). Meanwhile, Dominique takes care of the murdered journalist’s widow, Malia Baluba (Sheri Hagen), without realizing that she is also in great danger.
