Murder alert: 27-year-old stabbed on the street during a drug deal in Vienna

A previously unknown, rather small man stabbed a 27-year-old in the course of a drug deal – the victim died from his injuries. There is currently no trace of the perpetrator.

Wien. On Sunday night at 4 a.m. there was a fatal altercation on the Lerchenfelder Belt in Ottakring. A previously unknown, noticeably short man is said to have stabbed a 27-year-old Gambian man in the upper body with a knife as part of a drug deal.

The terrible act of bloodshed occurred after a visit to a belt bar where the men had been talking. There was an argument in front of the store that was probably about money. It is currently unclear whether this could be a territorial dispute.

Wife took victim to hospital in taxi

The victim was accompanied by his wife. The Austrian took her seriously injured husband to the AKH by taxi. The Gambian underwent emergency surgery there, but died due to his massive injury.

The as yet unknown perpetrator is still on the run. According to initial statements from the wife, who witnessed everything, the suspect was probably a North African, possibly an Algerian.

The police are looking for the suspect and are asking for information. What is particularly striking is his height; he is slightly taller than 160 cm, slim and has dark skin and light eyes. Tips can also be received anonymously by the police.

The taxi driver who took the victim to the hospital accompanied by his wife is also urgently wanted. He should contact the State Criminal Police Office on 01/31 310 33800.

Description of the perpetrator

  • approx. 160 – 170 cm tall

  • slim stature

  • bright Eyes

  • dark, hooded

The investigation is proceeding swiftly. Any relevant information (also anonymous) is requested from all police stations.

The suspect is presumed innocent.
