Mario Delgado, aspiring to the national leadership of Morena, warned that the self-proclaimed party leader, Porfirio Muñoz Ledo, may put the party against of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO).
“Porfirio Muñoz Ledo can convert to Morena in a party in opposition to the government of Andrés Manuel . That is the route he is proposing through ruptures, sectarianism and exclusion, “he said in a meeting with Morena supporters in Saltillo, Coahuila.
He accused that by proclaiming himself as the leader of Morena, Muñoz Ledo seeks to carry out a kind of “coup d’état against the party”, thus violating the law and democracy.
“That is not a good sign neither for Morena nor for the country. What contradiction would it be for our democratic struggle to have a spurious leader ”, he pointed out.
“With this level of vehemence, Porfirio Muñoz Ledo can ignore Andrés Manuel López Obrador at any time or even attack him for his democratic conviction. He is putting at risk everything we have achieved, everything we have fought for over 20 years for AMLO to become president and guide a true transformation of public life in our country. “
He considered that Muñoz Ledo’s wishes for directing Morena are a personal whim.
“Porfirio Muñoz Ledo cannot distinguish between an election and a poll; either he knows very little about statistics, or he wants to manipulate the population in a malicious way.
“It is never too late to grow up, Porfirio. How do you want to be remembered? You can reach old age with temperance and wisdom, or you can reach old age, as AMLO says, as a vulgar ambitious, “he said.
