Municipality reinforces preventive work and equipment to attend to eventual emergencies due to rain in Rancagua – 2024-05-07 00:18:23

As a result of the rains announced for this week in Rancagua, the teams of the Municipality of Rancagua have carried out various preventive cleaning tasks in various sectors of the city; as well as preparing with emergency equipment to be able to respond to neighbors’ requests while the frontal system lasts.

For example, the teams from the Environmental Management Directorate (DGA) of the Municipality of Rancagua have carried out important preventive work that includes cleaning grates, drains, clearing channels and ditches; in addition to carrying out works in critical points of the city, such as Diagonal Doñihue Avenue and Bolivia, to avoid flooding in the sector.

In addition, the DGA will have 12 crews that will be on the ground to allow the normal functioning of the city, to which are added 5 cistern trucks, pruning equipment, 2 green area crews to deal with the eventual fall of trees; as well as crews that will be in charge of residual spaces and cleaning drains on the main roads of Rancagua.

Added to this is the work of the teams of the Risk Management Department of the Municipal Public Security Directorate, who will provide support on the ground – through preventive patrolling of municipal vans – monitoring critical points in the city.

In this sense, the alternate mayor of Rancagua, Emerson Avendaño, highlighted “the important preventive work that the Municipality officials are carrying out, who seek to avoid major emergencies in the city. Likewise, and in the event of an emergency, the residents of Rancagua can call the Security Hotline 800 100 100, from where their requests will be attended to.”

For its part, the Community Development Directorate (DIDECO), through the Department of Protection and Social Welfare, will maintain emergency shifts to address situations that require municipal help; Likewise, close coordination will be maintained with the Community Development Centers (CDC) to address the most urgent needs for the community.

In this sense, there will be delivery of aid and material to dry and heat homes that are affected, especially in camps. In relation to homeless people, DIDECO will coordinate with different institutional networks for referral to shelters and residences.
