Municipality of Amstelveen hands out 4,000 packages with self-tests among shoppers

AMSTELVEEN On Thursday 30 December ‘visitor packages’ with self-tests from the GGD and the municipality of Amstelveen were distributed in several neighborhood shopping centers in Amstelveen. More than 4,000 parcels were distributed among the shopping public.

A package contains four self-tests, two mouth masks and tips to stick to the corona measures at home as best as possible. The campaign is intended to make people aware of the risk of contamination at home.

Alderman for care and welfare Marijn van Ballegooijen helped with distribution in the Westwijk shopping center: “We want to prevent the spread of the virus as much as possible. During the last days of the year, people often visit each other. It is good to test yourself before going somewhere or receiving people at home. In this way we protect each other and especially vulnerable people in our environment.”

The number of infections at home remains high. Research by the RIVM shows that more people are more likely to test if they have self-tests at home.
