Very high turnout on the opening day. With everything, the 75th version of the Chilean National Rodeo Championship began in the Crescent Monumental “Gonzalo Vial Vial” in Rancagua.
From early on, with the realization of the Women’s Promotional Series, which won the collar of Marta Hernández and Valentina Hernández (Talca Oriente Association) in Estrellado y Negrita with 12 good points (8+4), and where the pairing of the O Association stood out ‘Higgins by Romané Soto and Alejandra Barros in Agallao and Granuja (third in the category), started the corralera party.
Likewise, as the hours passed, the public came en masse to the main stronghold of the national rodeo, not only to watch the competition, but also to admire the crafts and traditional foods that were available.
A PARTY
The president of the Chilean Rodeo Federation (FEROCHI), Francisco Infante Rogers, told El Rancagüino that “we are hopeful, we are starting our National Championship. “We are happy, it is Thursday and we have a significant crowd, more than last year.”
Along with this, he stressed that “the promotional series for women and children were run. “We are warming up and very hopeful of having a great National Championship.”
Likewise, Infante Rogers expressed that “Rancagua for us is the epicenter of the rodeo”, therefore, the change of name to the Monumental, which will now be called “Gonzalo Vial Vial”, is important for the rodeo in general. “This has two connotations, the first is a recognition of him, which the family receives. The corralero country recognizes in Don Gonzalo Vial a very important pillar for the field, the Federation and the institution. And, the second thing is that Don Gonzalo Vial has to be an example to follow. Today we have many young leaders who are starting out in the rodeo, and without a doubt, they have to read who Don Gonzalo was, follow in his footsteps and the dedication he had with the rodeo,” and that “the legacy of people like that has to last for many years.”
Finally, the boss of FEROCHI added that, for some time now, there has been an integration towards this sport on the part of boys and girls, especially with the realization of the Caballitos de Palo Series. “I ran on a more basic one, hopefully it was a coligüe with some hemp reins, and for us it was a dream to run on a crescent. For them today, being in Rancagua is very important, and it shows us as a corralera family that is very united.”
THE PONIES
Precisely, this Friday afternoon, this series was run to the admiration of the fans who attended the Avenida España venue.
There, Agustín Caroca and Joaquín Caroca, from the Valparaíso Association, celebrated with 26 good points (13+13) +13, winning a foal as a prize.
They defeated Domingo Espinoza and Juan Pablo Espinosa (Asociación Aguanegra), in Mal Portao y Engaño with 26 (13+13) +9; and Maximiliano Figueroa and Francisco Becerra (Santiago Oriente Association) in Do Your Homework and Go to Bed Early with 25 (13+12) +13+12.
Meanwhile, in the Minor Promotional Series, Emiliano Ruiz and José Agustín Meza (Santiago Oriente and Santiago Poniente Associations) in Orgullo y Perno, with 13 good points (7+6), won the category over Pablo Núñez and Thomas Cabello (Association Aguanegra) in Comadrero and Ponte Tú, with 11 (4+7).
It should be noted that, at the close of this edition, the Mixed Series was being run, the first of the divisions that qualifies competitors for the grand final next Sunday.
This Friday’s program
At 08:00 hours, The day will begin with the Criaderos Series, and will continue with the Horses Series and the Mares Series.
In the afternoon, at 6 p.m., the opening ceremony will be held, where the name change to the Monumental Crescent will be made official.
And, at 7 p.m., the Potros Series will be played.
