The mayor and aldermen of the municipality of Den Bosch are calling for a crash barrier to be placed where Sanne and Hebe crashed last year. The college made this known after questions from the city council, it reports Broadcasting Brabant.

10-year-old Hebe Zwart and her 26-year-old supervisor Sanne Bos were killed in the autumn of 2022 when their car went out of control on the connecting road between the A59 and the A2. The two went missing on Monday, October 17, after they left Raamsdonksveer. An Amber Alert was issued for Hebe the following morning. On Wednesday evening, the car was found upside down in the water, containing the two bodies.

‘Not very dangerous’

As a result of the accident, a motion was submitted in December 2022 in the House of Representatives to place a crash barrier on the spot where the car flew off the bend. This one didn’t make it. It later emerged that Minister Mark Harbers of Infrastructure and Water Management had advised MPs against voting in favor of the amendment.

According to the minister, the annual analysis did not reveal the location as a very dangerous place. “And there is not enough money to tackle all problem areas.” Rijkswaterstaat also concluded shortly after the accident that a crash barrier was not necessary. According to Rijkswaterstaat, the node meets all requirements.

At the end of March, the discussion about the crash barrier flared up again when another car went off the road in the same bend and ended up in the water. The driver managed to get himself to safety.
