Municipality and Hogeschool Breda open game development hub on campus – Gaming – News

The municipality of Breda has signed a partnership agreement with Ubisoft and the university of applied sciences in the city to set up a game developer hub. The Video Game Accelerator 2.0 is now officially open.

The developer hub was opened at a ceremony at the Breda University of Applied Sciences. This was done by the university together with the municipality of Breda, the province of North Brabant and Ubisoft, which is investing an unknown amount in the project. Start-ups will work on campus alongside their studies, so that students can not only learn how to develop games, but also how to market them immediately.

Most of these developments take place in the Video Game Accelerator 2.0, a building on the campus where not only training takes place, but where scientists can also conduct applied research into the development of game technologies. In addition, it is possible to hold demonstrations and companies can come and work in the building.

The University of Breda has been offering one of the largest game courses in Europe for some time now, and initiatives have been taken in the city to stimulate game development for some time now. This is done, among other things, through the Breda Game City Foundation. According to the university, further plans will be expanded in the course of the year.
