Neubrandenburg (dpa / mv) – The city of Neubrandenburg has helped dealers and restaurateurs, who were stricken by the Corona closings, with stand fees. As a city spokeswoman announced on Friday, companies in the city center will be exempted from all stand fees for 2020 and 2021. This means that pubs, bakers and retailers – provided they are allowed to reopen – can immediately set up their furniture and advertising media outdoors without having to pay for it. City officials decided this on Thursday evening. According to its own information, the city had received around 36,000 euros per year from this fee.

In addition, the local politicians agreed on a deferral of property and trade taxes. More than 70 companies had applied for this. Mayor Silvio Witt (independent) expected losses of around six million euros in trade tax alone because of the Corona closings. With almost 64,000 inhabitants, Neubrandenburg is the largest city in the Mecklenburg Lake District and the third largest municipality in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania after Rostock and Schwerin.
