The towns and municipalities in the Sauerland are investing millions of euros this year in the new construction, renovation or renovation of their schools. Arnsberg is building the city’s only secondary school in the immediate vicinity of the Solepark in Hüsten. 17.2 million euros are earmarked for the new building. The city of Meschede is investing 14.5 million euros in the renovation of the August Macke school center in the coming years. The city of Brilon begins with the concrete plans for a partial demolition and new construction of the school center.

Renovation work will be completed in many schools in the Sauerland this year. In Schmallenberg, for example, this applies to the primary schools in Bödefeld and Bad Fredeburg. In Medebach, the gym and indoor swimming pool at the school center will be reopened.

All cities and municipalities in the Hochsauerlandkreis want to promote digitization in schools this year.

Building projects and school renovations in the HSK

City of Arnsberg:

The municipal secondary school “Grimmeschule” will be built on the vacant property at the Solepark in the Hüsten district according to the decision of the council of December 9, 2021. The Grimmeschule will be built as a cluster school with an integrated single-field sports hall and will replace the existing school building in the Neheim district. The purely new school building is estimated at 17.2 million euros, the construction of the single-field sports hall is calculated at 2.2 million euros.

The cultural center on Berliner Platz as part of the Franz-Stock-Gymnasium is being energetically renovated; the measure is concentrated on the entire structure of the cultural center. The focus is on the energetic renovation of the facade. The measure will be completed by autumn 2023 after consultation with the funding agency.

In Oeventrop, the entire Dinschede school area is being redesigned with the “old boys’ school”, elementary school and former Dinschede secondary school. The updated urban-architectural concept for the elementary school, community center and daycare center on the Dinschede school area was decided by the city council. this year the first buildings will be demolished.

City of Meschede:

The city is investing 14.5 million euros in the renovation of the August Macke school center in the coming years. The St. Walburga secondary school is being completely restructured. The previous administration wing and the toilet facility will be demolished. By 2025, students and teachers should have a completely new building. Hauptschule and Gymnasium should be barrier-free.

City of Olsberg:

With the start of construction of the “New Center in the Quartier” on the former hospital site in Olsberg, a new access road to the school center will also be built. In addition, the city wants to continue investing in the qualification of the city’s schools.

City of Brilon:

The construction of the open all-day school at the Ratmerstein elementary school will begin in 2022. The city also wants to begin with the concrete plans for a partial demolition and partial construction of the school center.

City of Hallenberg:

The elementary school in Hallenberg will be able to move into new day care rooms.

City of Schmallenberg:

Completion of the elementary schools in Bödefeld and Bad Fredeburg, which are currently being refurbished, and the renewal of the active sports center at the secondary school in Bad Fredeburg
