Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) – In view of financial holes in the corona pandemic, the NRW municipalities are calling for further help from the federal and state governments. The chief executive of the North Rhine-Westphalian Association of Towns and Municipalities, Christof Sommer, spoke out in the “Neue Ruhr / Neuen Rhein Zeitung” for a new edition of the rescue package launched last year.
The losses in trade tax as well as in the shares in income tax and sales tax tore in the NRW municipalities in the years 2021 and 2022, financial holes of two billion euros each. In addition, there would be a lack of income from swimming pools, theaters or museums.
The federal and state rescue package for 2020, with which, among other things, the loss of trade tax was compensated, was a good compensation, said Sommer. “This year, too, we are absolutely dependent on support.”
