Municipales 2020: the Grand Slam for the Republican Right in Moselle, Nancy switches to the left

Metz. – Senator (LR) François Grosdidier wins by a hair in Metz with 197 votes in advance (45.13%) on the EELV list and union of the left led by Xavier Bouvet (44.24%). Françoise Grolet’s list, supported by the Rassemblement national, won only 10.63% of the vote. A victory which surprises by its narrowness even if the campaign dynamic which Xavier Bouvet, a neophyte in politics but managed by the outgoing mayor Dominique Gros, managed to engage, suggested a flattering result.

Thionville. – Despite the challenge, the mobilization was not at the rendezvous of this second round of the municipal Thionville. A ballot marked by a large abstention (61.66%%) even if it is slightly down compared to that of the first round and which was ultimately largely favorable to the outgoing mayor, Pierre Cuny. The mayor (Various centers) won with 41.36% of the votes before Patrick Luxembourger (DVD, 31.75%) and Bertrand Mertz (Various left-EELV), mayor from 2008 to 2014 (26.88%).

Nancy. – Thunderbolt in Nancy or Matthieu Klein wins with more than 9 points ahead in front of the outgoing mayor Laurent Hénart. A clear victory and without burr (54, 54% against 45.46%) which brings, for the first time since the post-war period, a left man to the town hall of Nancy.

Forbach. –Alexandre Cassaro (Divers center) is the future mayor of Forbach. At 31, he won, notably thanks to the unexpected support of the outgoing PS mayor, Lauren Kalinowski, who was not running, in a complicated quadrangular. The future young mayor of Forbach receives 35.24% of the votes, compared to the lists led by Éric Diligent (29.81%); Christian Peyron (21.62%) and Thierry Homberg (13.32%).

Saint-Avold. – It’s the end of an era: André Wojciechowski, outgoing LR mayor, led the fight too many. At the end of the second round of the municipal election this Sunday, June 28, it is René Steiner (UC) who clearly wins. His score, in fact, leaves no room for discussion: 58.13% against an André Wojciechowski who only convinced 41.87% of the voters.

Longwy. –The Quadrangulaire du Pays-Haut was favorable to the outgoing mayor, Jean-Marc Fournel (PS) who won widely (45.64%) before Édouard Jacque (DVD, 21.46%) and Matthieu Servagi (LR, 21.41%) and Marco Agostini (Various left and environmentalists, 11.5%)

Val de Briey. – The alliance of “opposites” was not enough to win the decision: faced with the merged lists of Daniel Barucci and Jean-Paul Daul, led by the first, the outgoing mayor (Various right) François Dietsch is quite clearly imposed by 53.3% of the vote against 46.7% to his opponents. A victory for continuity in this new municipality created on 1is January 2017.

Yutz. – Céline Pouget came out slightly ahead of the first ballot before the outgoing mayor, Bruno Sapin. She confirmed this Sunday June 28 by ravishing the town hall to the outgoing with a fairly large lead: 44.88% against 39.22%. Far behind, Pascal Landragin at the head of a list supported by EELV, collects 15.90%.

Saint-Julien-lès-Metz. – Olivier Schmitt, first outgoing deputy and heir dubbed by the mayor falls from above. The alliance of his two opponents in the first round and led by Franck Osswald hit the bull’s eye and won, certainly by only 12 routes, 50, 46% of the vote against 49, 07% for Mr. Schmitt.

Amnéville. –Eric Munier largely prevails (48.74%) in the spa town and therefore keeps his mayor’s chair in a triangular facing Xavier Dieudonné (34.41%) and C. Sudrow (16.85%)

Bitche. – Unsurprisingly, Benoît Kieffer, already in the lead in the first round, was elected mayor of Bitche, with 53.31% of the vote before Francis Vogt (26.93%) and Pascal Leichtnam (19.76%).

Epinal. –Patrick Nardin therefore takes over from Michel Heinrich and wins (48.14%) in the triangle that opposed him to Benoit Jourdain (39.12%) and Fabrice Pisias (12.74%).

Bar-le-Duc. –Martine Joly (38.5%) retains her seat at the end of the longest campaign in the history of municipal elections.

Gérardmer. –The outgoing mayor, Stessy Speissmann, won the election with 47.06% of the vote. His list is ahead of Bernard Caël’s list (various centers, 40.72%). Eric Defranould and his running mate (various left) obtained 12.23% of the votes. The “green and united” list had obtained 17.34% of the votes on March 15. In a context of green wave this Sunday, June 28, it lost 108 voters between the two rounds, which confirms that the “useful vote” probably guided the Gérômois.
