A man attacked a municipal policewoman with a knife this Friday in the premises of the municipal police in a village near Nantes.
A municipal policewoman was injured Friday morning in a knife attack in La Chapelle-sur-Erdre, near Nantes. The suspect was arrested and three gendarmes were wounded, in the arm and in the hand, we learned from AFP. According to The Parisian, he died, shot during his arrest.
According to a source familiar with the matter, the life prognosis of the policewoman is engaged. “I can confirm to you the attack with the knife of the policewoman”, simply indicated to AFP the gendarmerie of the Pays de la Loire. The surrounding schools have been secured, according to the gendarmerie. “Children are confined to schools and colleges in the city,” a municipal official told AFP.
80 gendarmes, including the GIGN branch in Nantes, were deployed to find the perpetrator, as well as two helicopters, three dog teams and a squadron of mobile gendarmes. The research section of the Nantes gendarmerie is responsible for the investigation. “Avoid the area and strictly respect the instructions of the #gendarmes”, warned the national gendarmerie this morning on Twitter.
