Municipal Police and Gendarmerie Remove Dozen Abandoned Vehicles in City of Crâne: Fight Against Illegal Dumping and Delinquency

This Monday, July 17, the municipal police in collaboration with the gendarmerie of the city of Lamentin proceeded to the removal of a dozen out of use vehicles, located in the city of Crâne.

At 7:30 this morning, no less than twelve vehicles were removed from the skull city in Bréfort Lamentin.

This operation with an environmental stake aims to fight against illegal dumping but also the gathering of young people from the neighborhood around the place concerned.

According to the town hall of Le Lamentin, the prevention of delinquency is a component to be considered through this strong action.

For the owners of these vehicles, given formal notice to remove them within ten days, the pill is hard to swallow, hence some twists and turns during this initiative.

Recalcitrant owners risk a 5th class fine of up to 1500 euros.

In this subdivision, carcasses occupy parking spaces that serve as refuges for pests, and complicate the lives of residents.

With this operation, the municipality of Lamentin intends to send a strong signal to owners, even if it comes at a cost.

This year the city plans to urgently collect around fifty end-of-life vehicles out of the 200 that pollute the town. The goal is to prevent crime.
