Municipal officials, in Cagliari there will be a challenge between Zedda and Zedda for the mayor’s seat

Alessandra Zeddacenter-right, against Massimo Zedda, centre-left. At the next municipal elections in Cagliari, on 8 and 9 June, it will be Zedda against Zedda for the mayor’s seat.

The wide center-left field – fresh from success in the recent regional elections with Alessandra Todde, the first female president of the Region in 75 years in Sardinia – has made the name of the president of the Sardinian Progressists official. Massimo Zedda, from Cagliari, 48 years old, outgoing regional councilor, former mayor of Cagliari for two terms from 2011 to 2019, when he left office to try to rise to president of the Region, then defeated by Christian Solinas of the centre-right. By announcing his choice to take the field, he was also ready to submit to the outcome of any primaries, but the path preferred by the alliance led by Pd and M5S was, as for the regional round, that of a shared choice at the table.

Alessandra Zedda, on the other hand, former vice president of the Solinas council and councilor for Labor with Forza Italia, is a candidate to become the first female mayor in the history of Cagliari with the centre-right coalition. She is a former basketball player, well known in the city for having played for Virtus Cagliari with whom she came close to making the playoffs for the A1.

Officially, there is already a third wheel: the lawyer Joseph Farrisa former member of the centre-right, who is running as an independent with a civic list
