Municipal Government summons to donate keys to make the statue of the catrín, in Contla

To recognize and honor one of the most deeply rooted traditions in the municipality of Contla de Juan Cuamatzi, the Municipal Government through the Ministry of Culture, Crafts and Tourism; launched the campaign “Keys for tradition” which is aimed at the citizens of the province so that they can donate disused keys and contribute to the realization of the catrín statue, with the intention of highlighting the historical and cultural legacy of one one of the most important carnivals in the State of Tlaxcala.

Since last March 1, through the official Facebook page of the Municipal Government; A call was launched in order to start promoting this campaign, extending the invitation to the population to go to the offices of the Casa de Piedra Cultural Center, from 8 in the morning to 8 at night, a space where people they will be able to deposit their keys and contribute with a grain of sand to the maximum celebration of all the contlenses.

“It is time to demonstrate our passion for Carnival, this statue will reinforce our identity as people from Contlan, we are going to encourage this tradition to have a monument where all those who have left will be honored, but who always fought and gave their best to that this tradition, today, has more than two centuries of history and will position us as a benchmark in the State”, mentioned Mayor Eddy Roldán, extending the invitation to directors and coordinators of the different administrative areas to join this Bell.

The materials that can be donated are keys, coins, nickel, copper, bronze, bells, pipes and/or musical instruments that are already in poor condition; The collection center will continue in Casa de Piedra until March 19 at the aforementioned time, so that all families who wish to contribute can do so without setbacks. It should be noted that the invitation is addressed to the general public, so that the population of neighboring municipalities can join this campaign that seeks to highlight the identity of the municipality of Juan Cuamatzi, within the framework of the 2022 edition of the Contla Carnival, under the slogan “Revive the tradition”.
