2,552 voters of Klaipėda district exercised their civil right in the preliminary municipal elections, in which it was possible to vote in any municipality of the country, with a total of 52,733 on the list. This is 4.84 percent. from the total number of voters in the district. The Lithuanian average is 5.7 percent.
On election day – March 5 – it will no longer be possible to vote in any Lithuanian municipality, voters will have to come to the municipality where they have declared their place of residence until 2023. The Central Election Commission (CEC) announces that during the three days of early voting in Lithuania, a total of more than 137,000 voters voted. This is almost 5.7 percent. from the total number of all voters in Lithuania.

The Central Election Commission (CEC) reminds that the ban on election campaigning comes into effect 7 hours before the start of voting on election day.

After the provisions of the Election Code came into force, the period of ban on campaigning during the election weekend was shortened. Now election campaigning, regardless of its methods, forms and means, is prohibited 7 hours before the start of voting on election day and until the end of voting on election day.
Exceptions apply to outdoor political advertising posted no later than the last business day before the start of this election campaign ban within 50 meters of the building where the polling place is located.
In this case, when election campaign stands, awnings, posters, etc. are closer than 50 meters from the building where voting takes place, they must be removed.
Voters can post free of charge posts that are not considered election campaigning. It is also possible to publish on social networks that the voter is preparing to vote, invites others to vote or has already voted.
Prosecutors will be on duty on Sunday
March 5 – the day of municipal council and mayoral elections – from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. prosecutors and a specialist from the Communications Department of the General Prosecutor’s Office will be on duty.
The prosecutors appointed during the elections are ready to ensure timely and efficient organization of pre-trial investigations and, if necessary, provide informational and advisory assistance to the members of the election commissions and police officers on issues of violations of the laws relevant during the elections.
