Municipal Elections in Turre: María Isabel López Leads with Most Votes, but an Absolute Majority Remains Elusive

María Isabel López has been the candidate with the most votes in the municipal elections of Turre. The PSOE has achieved 679 votes, which represent 41.27% of the total, but they are insufficient for an absolute majority.

The current mayor has improved her results from 2019, where she obtained 4 councilors, but she will have a difficult time governing. To do this, she will have to come to terms with the United Left brand, Con Andalucía, just as they did in 2015 and 2019. The communists have achieved two councilors, again.

But the socialists, actively and passively, have made it clear during the campaign that they would not reach an agreement with their former partners. The bad relationship between the two leftist groups is more than known. The leader of Con Andalucía, Martín Morales, resisted giving up the Mayor’s Office (as agreed) due to the accusation of María Isabel López for not allowing a nougat stand to be installed at the fair a few years ago. Until the case was filed, Morales did not relinquish his throne.

For its part, Arturo Grima’s Popular Party has achieved 4 councilors, one less than in 2019. Can it be ruled out that it will reach a majority by agreeing with Con Andalucía? Stranger things have already been seen in Turre. We’ll have to wait and see what happens in the coming weeks.
