The Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE) of El Salvador today intensifies preparations for the municipal elections and the Central American Parliament (Parlacen) that will take place on Sunday, March 3.
The TSE reported that tomorrow the transfer of the packages that will be used for the elections where Salvadorans will elect mayors, municipal councils and deputies to Parlacen will conclude.
The authorities place special emphasis on the transfer and custody of the documentation that will be used in the elections after complaints of irregularities during the return to the polls in the presidential and legislative elections on February 4.
The transfer of the packages is guarded by personnel from the National Civil Police (PNC) and the Attorney General’s Office (FGR).
The governing body of the electoral act indicated that all electoral packages must be distributed in their entirety this Monday, February 26, when this process concludes in the departments of Santa Ana, La Libertad and San Salvador, the most populous.
In the return to the polls next Sunday, 319 candidates will seek the mayorships of 44 municipalities, according to the TSE, while a total of 160 candidates will opt for one of the 20 places that the country has in Parlacen, a forum based in Guatemala.
Political media consider that this regional parliament does not have the legal force to make changes in all the countries that comprise it, but others believe that from there they can put pressure so that Central Americans have better treatment during their passage through Mexico and for those who are already there. on American soil.
