The number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within a week fell to 53.8 on Tuesday. At first it looked like Munich was under 50 – there would have been a prospect of easing from Monday.

Confusion about the Munich corona numbers: In the morning, the Robert Koch Institute reported that the number of new corona infections per 100,000 inhabitants in the city had fallen to 46.2 within a week – and thus below the limit value for the first time since the beginning of March of 50, which would allow further easing. In the morning, the value was corrected and thus dashed hopes of quick easing: The seven-day incidence is accordingly 53.8 and fell only slightly compared to the previous day. On Monday an incidence of 54.3 was determined.
It is still unclear why an incorrect number was initially reported for Munich. The city is still busy with the clarification, it said from the town hall. Presumably something went wrong with the transmission of the Robert Koch Institute.
The threshold value 50 is decisive for the question of which restrictions and rules apply in a district or an urban district. However, the incidence must be stable below 50 for the easing to take effect.
Specifically, this means: The limit value 50 must be fallen below on five consecutive days. The relaxations then come into force on the second day after the five-time shortfall. If the value had actually dropped below 50 on Tuesday, the city could have relaxed individual measures from Whit Monday.
In elementary schools are then likely to according to the Bavarian Infection Protection Measures Ordinance all classes back to face-to-face teaching. In the other school types, too, lessons in the classroom would be possible again if the minimum distances are observed. Daycare centers can resume normal operations. Shops could reopen to customers with appropriate hygiene concepts. These openings could now be available from Tuesday at the earliest – so the incidence should be below 50 from Wednesday.
On May 12, Munich fell out of the nationwide Corona emergency brake regulation because the incidence had been below 100 for five days in a row. This enabled outdoor restaurants, theaters, concert and opera houses and cinemas to reopen. Since then, contact-free indoor sports and outdoor contact sports have also been possible again. The number of infections reported by the Robert Koch Institute are decisive for the applicable corona rules.
