An unknown person sprayed pepper spray in the Munich subway. Several people are injured. The perpetrator is on the run.
Five passengers were injured in an attack with pepper spray in the subway in Munich on Thursday. A 58-year-old man was taken to the hospital, and four other people complaining of respiratory irritation were treated at the scene.
According to the police, the incident was preceded by an argument between a 54-year-old woman and the 58-year-old. When another man came, the stranger sprayed the gas in the face of the 58-year-old. Bystanders inhaled the irritant. The underground station reported what had happened to the police and the control center, which immediately sent several rescue service vehicles and fire brigade units to the Stiglmaierplatz underground station.
The perpetrator was able to escape undetected
On site, emergency services treated the injured. The fire brigade carried out measurements. Since the concentration of the irritant gas was already so low at this point that no more pollutants could be detected, the platform was quickly released again.
The reason for the attack is still unknown. The pepper spray sprayer was able to escape, as a police spokeswoman said when asked by t-online.
