Of all things before Christmas, this is limited German railway the S-Bahn traffic. It comes from on four weekends between November 23 and December 8 and December 21 and December 22. 4 a.m. to 4 p.m to schedule changes. Only the lines then run on the main route S2, S3, S6 and S8 and there is no S-Bahn service between Ostbahnhof and Giesing.
The reason is the work on the Ostbahnhof signal box. According to Deutsche Bahn, the control and safety technology is now ready. However, widespread acceptance testing is still needed.
On the affected weekends, trains will run as follows:
- S1 ends at the main station and does not stop at Hackerbrücke
- S3 is no longer available between Ostbahnhof and Giesing
- S4 only runs between Geltendorf and Heimeranplatz.
- S7 is no longer available between the main station and Giesing and does not stop at Hackerbrücke.
From December 15, the S7 will only run to the main station, platform 36, the Hackerbrücke stop will no longer be available. It will be replaced by the S5 on the eastern branch, which will be re-introduced. The new S5, which will connect Pasing with Kreuzstrasse in the future, will also be affected by the work on the signal box. On the weekend 21/22. In December it will be canceled between Pasing and Giesing.
There is also a restriction on various weeknights between 9:20pm and 4:40am due to work on the signal box. The railway provides information at www.s-bahn-muenchen.de/fahren/baustellen/stammstrecke.
