Mumbai: Tanush Kotian and Tusshar Deshpande, Mumbai’s tailbacks, gave a brilliant performance in Ranji Trophy cricket. In the quarter final match against Baroda in the Ranji Trophy, the players who came out to bat at numbers 10 and 11 shocked the cricket world by scoring a century. It is the first time in 78 years that the 10th and 11th have scored a century in first-class cricket.
Chandu Sarvathe and Shute Banerjee were the first Indian duo to achieve this feat in 1946. Tanush and Tusshar are joining hands with Mumbai after scoring 337 runs for the loss of nine wickets. Tanush faced 120 balls and remained unbeaten on 129 runs. Tusshar Deshpande scored 123 runs off 129 balls. Tanush reached his century in 115 balls and Tushar in 112 balls.
This is the first time in Ranji Trophy cricket that a player batting at eleventh has scored a century. Both of them put together a partnership of 232 runs for Mumbai. While Mumbai scored 384 runs in the first innings, the team raised a huge score of 569 runs in the second innings. Baroda need 606 runs to win on the fifth day!
