Mumbai Indians Defeated by Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL Match: Chawla Explains Rohit Sharma’s Impact Player Role

Will India suffer a setback in the World Cup? Chawla explains why Rohit is an impact player

Mumbai Indians lost again in IPL. In the previous match, Kolkata Knight Riders defeated Mumbai by 24 runs.

Mumbai won the toss and opted to enter the match which was held at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai’s venue. Batting first, Kolkata were bowled out for 169 runs in 19.5 overs. Chasing the target, Mumbai were bowled out for 145 runs in 18.5 overs.

Rohit Sharma was the impact player for Mumbai in the match. Mumbai Indians spinner Piyush Chawla revealed after the match why Rohit was playing like an impact player.

Chawla said Rohit played as an impact player due to back pain.

“Rohit Sharma had a slight back pain. So he was made an impact player as a precaution,” Piyush Chawla said after the match.

Rohit Sharma scored 11 runs off 12 balls in the match. Manish Pandya was caught by Rohit on the fifth ball of the fifth ball over his bowler by Sunil Narine.

In the Mumbai batting, Suryakumar Yadav scored 56 runs off 36 balls and Tim David scored 24 runs off 20 balls, but the team failed. The setback for Mumbai was that none of the other players were able to perform well.

With the loss, Mumbai’s playoff hopes for this season were dashed. Mumbai’s next match will be against Sunrisers Hyderabad on May 6. The venue is Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.
