Mumbai Indians Defeat Delhi Capitals in Women’s Premier T20 League Opener: Alice Capsey’s Performance Not Enough

Bengaluru: Mumbai Indians beat Delhi Capitals in the first match of the second edition of Women’s Premier T20 League. Batting first, Delhi scored 171 runs for the loss of five wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. In reply, Mumbai won by 173 runs in the stipulated over with four wickets in hand. Alice Capsey’s all-round performance did not save Delhi.

Alice Capsey (75 off 53 balls), Jemima Rodriguez (42 off 24 balls) and Meg Lanning (31 off 25 balls) shone for Delhi. Natsiver Brandt and Amelia Kerr both took wickets for Mumbai, while Shabnim Ismail took one wicket.

Batting in reply, Mumbai won on the strength of Yastika Bhatia (57 off 45 balls), Harmanpreet Kaur (55 off 34 balls) and Amelia Kerr (24 off 18 balls). For Delhi, Alice Kapsey and Arundhati Reddy took two wickets while Marisan Kap took one wicket.
