The mom of eight from Edmonton, Canada underwent an emergency Caesarean section in hopes it would make her breathing easier, but sadly it wasn’t enough to save her.
Sister Carol Charles spoke to Jennifer moments before she was rushed to intensive care and said her brother was afraid of dying.
“She said to me ‘sister, I am dying. They are taking me to the ICU, ”she said. Radio-Canada News.
“In the last video chat I had with her, I just said ‘don’t worry’, I said ‘I’m going to see the kids. I’ll be there, don’t worry ”. And she was crying. I could tell she was scared.
Carol, who described Jennifer as a “generous” and “beautiful” person, said she then received a call from medical staff telling her they were going to give the new mom a Cesarean to help her breathe.
Sadly, Jennifer never recovered and passed away without seeing her newborn daughter on September 3.
Carol said her sister refused to get stung.
“The sad thing is that my sister was not vaccinated,” she said.
“It was something we discussed in the spring when the vaccines became available, as her large family and the children she already had at home were of school age. I was just like, ‘You have to go get the shot.’
Carol added, “Her children – it was her world. That’s what made her smile every day. That’s why she got up. That’s what she lived for, it was the children.
In a warning to those still unvaccinated, the Canadian said: “COVID is real. My sister was an amazing mother, and now her children will grow up motherless. “
Dr Stephanie Cooper of Foothill Medical Center in Calgary said unvaccinated pregnant women were at greater risk of becoming seriously ill from Covid.
She said more than 20 pregnant women with Covid were hospitalized in Alberta in August and September alone, and not all of them had been vaccinated.
Dr Cooper said it is common to keep the baby inside the mother for as long as possible, but sometimes it is vital to remove the fetus to save the baby and the mother.
Pregnant women who contract COVID are five times more likely to require hospitalization than the average person and 10 times more likely to need care, according to a survey by the Canadian COVID-19 Pregnancy Surveillance Team intensive.
A GoFundMe set up to support the children of Rosebluff-Thomas said, “All she wanted was to get better so that she could go home with her children, but unfortunately she didn’t get over it. Jennifer was a beautiful person, with a beautiful soul.
“She loved all of her children and did her best to give them everything and more. “
