Multiple Stabbings Shake Oslo: Police Investigating Connections

At 10:53 p.m., the police in Oslo reported that a person was seriously injured after being stabbed at the Vaterlands bridge on Grønland in Oslo

– We are searching for the perpetrator/s, Oslo Police District writes on X/Twitter.

A few minutes later, there was a report of another stabbing a few hundred meters away from the first.

Both of the two people are described as seriously, but not critically, injured. Both were admitted to hospital, but that one of them was allowed to leave shortly after midnight.

– There is nothing to suggest that this was accidental, or that this is something that is a danger to others, says Kristian Bjørberg, head of operations in the Oslo police district, to NRK.

Investigates widely

– We first received a report from the area around the Stargate pub about a possible stabbing. Then we moved out with more resources. A short time later we received a report of another stabbing here at Grønland square, says Bjørberg.

The police are investigating whether there is a connection between the two incidents.

– We have searched for perpetrators, and have hypotheses that there may be a connection between them or whether there are two different incidents, says Bjørberg.

Large police forces

NRK’s reporter at the scene tells of four or five patrols that entered Grønland square, with shields and protective equipment. They asked passers-by if they had seen anything.

Eventually it became clear that something had happened down at the subway station. A short time later, a person was picked up from the subway station by paramedics and taken to hospital.

There are large police forces in the area in search of the perpetrator or persons.

– We have no specific suspects in the two cases, says operations manager Bjørn Gunnar Nysæter to NTB on the night of Saturday.
