On December 31, 2023, three men attacked a 29-year-old woman – the victim was raped and seriously injured. Berlin officials are calling on anyone with information to help solve this crime and bring the perpetrators to justice.
Remix News reports that this is not the first case of gang rape in Gerlitzer Park. Already on June 21, 2023, a tourist from Georgia was raped and robbed there. The woman was in the park with her spouse until they were surrounded by 5 men from a local drug cartel. Two men injured a man and stole 1,200 euros from him, while three men raped a woman.
According to the media, one of the defendants is Somali, and two are citizens of Guinea. None of them have permanent residence and all came to Germany as asylum seekers. The trial against the defendants will be heard in the Berlin District Court in January this year.

Representatives of the far-right German party “Alternative for Germany” stated “that this is proof that the German authorities turn a blind eye to crimes committed by illegal immigrants and that the country needs tougher laws against immigrants who have already been punished”.
Gerlitzer Park is considered one of Berlin’s crime centers – it has already come to the attention of the authorities several times in connection with drug trafficking. The mayor of Berlin, Kai Wegner, has promised to close the park in the evenings from now on and invest 30 million euros in it for security measures to build a fence around it. Construction is planned to start in the first quarter of this year.
