Multiple Earthquakes Strike Kahramanmaraş, Southeastern Turkey

An earthquake measuring 4.6 on the Richter scale struck Kahramanmaraş, southeastern Turkey, on Saturday, according to the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Administration.

The information contained on the website of the Presidency of Disaster and Emergency Management stated that the earthquake was recorded in the Gokson region, and its epicenter occurred at a depth of about 8.48 kilometers underground.

On February 6, two devastating earthquakes measuring 7.7 and 7.6 on the Richter scale struck southeastern Turkey and northern Syria, followed by thousands of tremors.

The two earthquakes resulted in the death of more than 50,000 people and caused major destruction to buildings and infrastructure.

On March 25, an earthquake measuring 4.5 on the Richter scale shook the same state.

The earthquake occurred in Akin Ozo district at a depth of 7 kilometers.

This earthquake was preceded one day by another earthquake with a magnitude of 4.7, and the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Administration stated in a statement that the earthquake was recorded at a depth of 7.34 kilometers underground in the Gokson region of the state.

Last May, two successive earthquakes struck the state, and the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Department reported that the two earthquakes occurred in the Gokson region of Kahramanmaraş state, with the first measuring 5 and the second measuring 4.1 on the Richter scale.
