The cantonal police in Uri pulled several drivers out of traffic on Saturday and Sunday because of alcohol or drug consumption.

On Saturday, shortly after 8.30 a.m., a patrol from the Uri cantonal police followed a passenger car with two occupants. On the Trippstrasse in Schattdorf, the vehicle with Hungarian license plates was subjected to a more detailed check.
Symptoms of possible drug use were found in the 48-year-old Hungarian driver. Two delayed drug tests were performed, both of which were positive. As a result, the Uri public prosecutor ordered a blood and urine sample.
Furthermore, the driver of the vehicle had a foreign driver’s license, but not a valid driver’s license from Switzerland, although he had been resident in Switzerland for more than a year.
Possible drug use in Altdorf
On Saturday, shortly after 10 a.m., during a general traffic check, the Uri cantonal police noticed a delivery van with license plates from the canton of Schwyz that was driving without lights.
When checking the 42-year-old Swiss, the Uri cantonal police also found symptoms of possible drug use. Two consecutive drug tests both came back positive. The Uri public prosecutor also ordered a blood and urine test for him, which he refused.

On Sunday, just before 7.30 a.m., a patrol from the Uri cantonal police observed a man leaving a petrol station shop in Flüelen with a multiple pack of beer and getting into a vehicle with Uri license plates.
When the 37-year-old Swiss man was subsequently checked by the Uri cantonal police, the breath alcohol test showed a value of 0.78 mg/l. The rapid drug test showed a negative result.
