BEIJING, June 18 (Xinhua) — China’s installed renewable energy capacity saw double-digit growth in the first five months of the year as the country strives to meet its renewable energy targets. capping and carbon neutrality.

Between January and May, wind power capacity increased by 17.6% year-on-year to around 340 million kilowatts, while solar parks saw their capacity reach 330 million kilowatts, an increase of 24 .4% year on year, the National Energy Administration said.

As of late May, the country’s total installed power generation capacity reached about 2.42 billion kilowatts, an increase of 7.9 percent from a year earlier, the data showed.

China has announced that it will strive to cap its carbon dioxide emissions by 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2060.

The country is advancing in the development of renewable energies to improve its energy structure. According to an action plan released last year, China aims to increase the share of non-fossil energy consumption to around 25% by 2030.
