Multi-Car Accident on A4 Near Steenbergen: Three Injured, Road Closed

Three people were injured in a multi-car accident on the A4. The A4 is closed in the direction of Antwerp between Steenbergen and Tholen. The road is expected to remain closed until 1:30 p.m., Rijkswaterstaat reports.

The accident happened around 5:15 am near Steenbergen. Four cars collided for an unknown reason. Emergency services, including an air ambulance, came to the rescue, reports said Broadcasting Brabant.

The driver of one of the cars, a 49-year-old man from Belgium, was thrown from the car and landed on the road, according to police. He was taken to hospital with serious injuries. Two other drivers, a 68-year-old man from Alphen aan den Rijn and a 19-year-old man from Waddinxveen, were also injured and taken to hospital.

Rijkswaterstaat spoke this morning of great devastation. Several cars had to be recovered and there was a lot of rubbish on the road surface.

The police are investigating the circumstances and are calling on witnesses to come forward. Traffic is being diverted for the time being. Traffic is advised to drive via Roosendaal, on the A59 and the A17.
