Mullen’s Long-Awaited Electric Sports Car Arrives in the US with Chinese Origins

Announced four years ago, Mullen’s electric sports car is finally here, still with Chinese origins like most of the American manufacturer’s models.

In 2019, Mullen is proud to announce the arrival on American soil of the Chinese electric sports car Qiantu K50, with local assembly. But, between financial difficulties and litigation between the two partners, the project will not see the light of day until 2023. Ironically, the K50 is no longer produced in China, so it more easily becomes an American product… However, , while waiting for the launch of the SUV Five, Mullen only offers vehicles with Chinese origins in its catalog.

Not a word about the battery and a range of 370 km… in the NEDC cycle. We can count on 300 km in the WLTP cycle, which is not a lot given the ambitions.

Six months ago, Mullen spoke of new engines allowing entry into the exclusive club of 0 to 100 km/h accomplished in less than 2 seconds. We return to earth with 4.2 seconds. Not bad, but ultimately not so far from the 4.6 s of the Qiantu K50 with its 320 kW…

A new interior

In reality, the most important development seems to concern the interior. The Mullen GT receives a brand new dashboard adorned with an imposing light wood decor and a double screen under a single panel. A not really typical supercar atmosphere. The Mullen logo is affixed to the steering wheel, but the Chinese manufacturer Qiantu’s dragonfly is still present on the hood…
