Mukul Roy, a veteran leader of the Trinamool Congress (TMC), has hinted at rejoining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in India. Roy, who had previously switched to the BJP in 2017 before returning to the TMC, travelled to Delhi for “personal work”, leading to speculation about his whereabouts. His son, also a former TMC member who is now with the BJP, had claimed that Roy was “missing”. Speaking to a Bengali news channel, Roy said he wanted to meet with Amit Shah and J P Nadda, both of whom are BJP leaders. State parliamentary affairs minister Sovandeb Chattopadhyay, also a member of the TMC, accused the BJP of “dirty politics”.
