Now the actor is sharing his experience with Mammootty. He was speaking on a YouTube channel called Mukesh Speaking.
‘When acting with Mohanlal, the food on location will be terrible. Pulli would buy and bring food from many places.
In about 20 days I will gain about 45 kilos. Other people would not understand that I gained so much weight, but I would understand.
Once, after shooting with Mohanlal, I went to Mammootty. Mammootty said then, ‘With a stone’s throw. I knew that you would change your figure in twenty-five days when I was with him.’
When I told him that I would be on location for Mammootty’s film for thirty-five days, he said, ‘Ah, twenty-five days. I will make you a Hindi actor by then,’ said Mammootty.
When asked if Telugu is enough, he said no. ‘Just stay with me. You don’t know anything for a few days. It is no big Himalayan task. Just stay with me and do as I do,’ he said.
After half an hour I asked the production boy to bring me some tea. When I told him that it should be a good and excellent tea that came out after being beaten and not cold, he brought the tea for me saying that I know his brother’s tea.
When I went to drink tea, someone came from behind and knocked the tea away. When I look back, it’s Mammooka. He asked if this is what you said half an hour ago that you would do as I said.
When I asked if it was a tea, he said that he should not drink tea with milk and if necessary, drink black tea. That too without adding any sweet.
When asked how to drink black tea without sweetening, I asked if I had ever seen it sweetened. I told the production boy to bring me black tea without sweetening it as promised.
Right then I knew it was going to be a big deal. At that time, he said that he would act in a Hindi film. When the tea was brought I started drinking.
It was like water. Today I have no problem drinking unsweetened tea. But that was not the case then.
While I was drinking tea, Mammootty said, ‘See, you will like the taste a little less. ‘If Mohanlal sees you within twenty-five days, he will not recognize you,’ said Mukesh.
