Ahmed Mujahid, head of the management committee of the Egyptian Football Association, confirmed that the elections for the next board of directors will be held before the end of next January, in accordance with the requirements of the International Football Association “FIFA”.
Mujahid indicated in statements on Sada Al-Balad channel that he would present a number of proposals to the Egyptian government to hold the General Assembly during which the new Federation’s Board of Directors would be elected.
Mujahid said, “We will not embarrass the state. We will nominate all sides in our proposals. The elections will be held with all precautionary measures at the same time as the World Handball Championship.”
He added: “FIFA delegates have been in Egypt for days and have been in the hotel where the Cairo Film Festival delegations were present, and they know very well that the epidemiological situation is under control.”
He explained, “We will present our plan to the officials first. It will be presented to the government to obtain an exception from the decision to suspend the holding of general assemblies, which was issued days ago.”
The Egyptian government had issued a decision to prevent the holding of general assembly meetings in all sports bodies until next June, as a precaution to limit the spread of the Corona virus.
“We want to finally come out with coordination and agreement between the International Federation and the Egyptian state apparatus and its government. We have a deadline until January 31 and before February 1 there will be an elected council,” he added.
He concluded: “I hope that the Egyptian government understands the matter. On Sunday of next week, we will present all proposals to the officials to hold the elections before the date that FIFA has set for us.”
