Chairman of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) Cholil Nafis responded to the issue of a circular letter from the Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan requiring DKI Jakarta civil servants to pray Eid al-Fitr at the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS).
Cholil feels there is no problem if the letter is correct. He considered the letter a good invitation.
“There is no problem with the assignment letter, sir, I was also invited with a letter from the provincial government of DKI. That doesn’t reduce my sincerity. If my superiors invite their subordinates for good, it’s good. Where is the problem?” Cholil said via the Twitter account @cholilnafis, Tuesday (3/5).
Cholil also appreciated the enthusiasm of the residents in participating in the Eid prayers at JIS. He uploaded an aerial photo of the congregation at JIS on Eid.
He talked about the importance of praying Eid in congregation. Cholil said Eid prayer in the field is a form of overflowing happiness.
“The congregational prayer is a sign of unity so that the reward is multiplied up to 27 times. While the Eid prayer in the field is a religious symbol and an overflow of happiness because you have succeeded in participating in Ramadan training and finding yourself fitri,” he said.
Previously, there was a circular letter from the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government asking civil servants to pray Eid al-Fitr at JIS. The letter was distributed the day before the implementation of the religious activity.
DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan confirmed the letter. He conveyed that the DKI Provincial Government had focused on organizing Eid prayers in one place.
“The Eid prayers, which are held in every mayor’s office, this time are gathered here (JIS). So, they are not held in every mayor’s office. So, it’s not that everyone is asked to come here, is it,” said Anies at JIS, Sunday (1/5).
